Great to see some rain as the ground turns on the soft side throughout the country and the National Hunt season can get going.

The horses all appear well this morning following yesterday’s work day and will soon be looking for some targets for their seasonal debuts.

On Tuesday we had our Adlestrop Club Charity Golf Day and it was great to welcome so many owners and friends to the Cotswolds Cup, Chipping Norton.

Congratulations to the winning golf team of Mark Pougatch, Chris Wilson, Jon Dadswell and Paul Tame (pictured).  Chris was one of my P.E. teachers from over 40 years ago and it’s both wonderful and embarrassing that he looks younger than me.

Both Jon and Paul also attended my school and along with Mark are members of the newly formed ‘Richard Phillips Racing Syndicate’.  There are a few shares still available in this fun venture, please see HERE for more info.

In the evening we held our annual Question of Sport Quiz and as ever, we were supported by sporting and broadcasting greats including owners John Inverdale, Mark Pougatch and Cornelius Lysaght and legendary jockeys, John Francome, Mick Fitzgerald and Richard Johnson.

The Inverdale team narrowly beat the Pougatch team in the battle of the celebrities in the Question of Sport.  Whilst Jeremy Brown and his fellow anoraks once again took the main prize, kindly sponsored by Oxford Wine Company.

Hopefully a good day was had by all and we raised money for Prostate Cancer UK.  Thanks to all who made it such a special day.

Below is part two of our horse previews for our Five to Follow Competition.  Look forward to receiving your entries soon!
