Beautiful weather and a busy few days at Perth, so-so day yesterday with the highlight being a good 2nd from Arnica, disappointing run from Silk or Scarlet, satisfactory step forward from Signifiant and Penny River remaining a work in progress.

Calivigny (Kit)

Back up there today with 7 runners (Fernhill Lad n/r last race) starting with Calivigny (Kit) and Ebony Jewel (Brendan Powell) in the 1.50, , both prefer bit more cut in the ground but am sure it will be safe, Calivigny back from a break and on a high mark, Ebony Jewel has had minor wind surgery and is well handicapped when it all comes together for him, very interested to see how he goes right handed for the first time, ground may not see him at his best – 15 run.

Ebony Jewel (Lucy)

Big step up in trip and class next for Artic Mann (Bruce) in the 3.30 but I think he will stay, had a good excuse last time and will love the ground so could go well off a light weight – 14 run.  Then three runners in the 4.05; Benny’s Secret (Bruce), Eagle Ridge (Danny McMeniman) and Craiganboy (Joe Williamson) – conditions should suit Benny if he can get into a nice rhythm with his jumping, Eagle has had a long season and I think would be more competitive in a lower grade, Craiganboy had a good excuse last time and will only run if ground on soft side of good and consents to start!

Benny’s Secret (Grant)

Decent chance on best form but does prefer soft – 10 run.  Finally Cancan (Henry Brooke) goes in the 4.40, she seems to be thriving and should go well – 11 run.

Eagle Ridge

More again tomorrow and we will probably end up with 4 runners – Minuit Ciel (Grant) in the 1.30, Blazing Port (Henry Brooke) in the 4.10, Broadway Joe (Brian Hughes) in the 4.40 and Memors (Grant) in the 5.10 – the handicappers have a chance, the mares are both lovely young horses for the future but face tough competition tomorrow.
