A fine day in the end after a wet night.  Delighted with Broadway Joe winning on chasing debut at Kelso yesterday, did it well and hopefully he can be progressive in this sphere, he is starting at the right end of the handicap and is well related.  He was given a lovely ride by Danny who stepped in for Henry who was injured in a previous race, he has two broken ribs and a punctured lung but fortunately has no damage to his back or neck, get well soon Henry.

Broadway Joe took well to the larger obstacles

Plenty of encouragement elsewhere on the card, Half Track ran with immense promise to be a close 4th on stable debut, Lewa House progressed nicely – Gipsy Lee Rose, Arnica and Rydedale Racer all ran well enough and will improve for their runs.

Celebrations! So good to have Owners back properly, I think this was our 16th winner for the two Clan Gathering syndicates since we started in 2015.

Ayr tomorrow but a despite 10mm of rain overnight the ground is still on the firm rather than soft side of good so unless there is further overnight rain we may withdraw our runners.  We are already down from 11 entries to 3 declarations – they are Upandatit (2.30, jockey tbc, 7 run), Manetti (3.05, Bruce, 13 run) and Eagle Ridge (3.40, Bruce, 4 run) all of which would have a little chance if the rain comes otherwise they will wait for another day.

A good article in Racing Post regarding our employment practices – read it here – no doubt make me unpopular among many of my colleagues but I sincerely believe that in the 21st century we must improve working conditions if we want to encourage and then retain our workforce.
